La Plagne, France
Experience: La Plagne is one of our 2 favourite ski resorts in France even though for different reasons than Serre-Chevalier. What makes La Plagne so special is its family oriented vibe, the variety of slopes, and the beautiful views. There is something special about skiing in the forest down to Mauchavin La Plagne. Go to the other side of the mountain toward La Roche de Mio and you can ski on the glacier or do down toward Champigny. There are pistes for everyone. From off piste to challenging black pistes to large carving blue pistes. You can also discover Les Arcs via the funiculaire. Don’t forget to finish the day with Les Appertes to get a hot chocolate…or a hot wine!
Recommended stay duration: 7 days
How to get there: From North America: Delta Airlines to Geneva. From Europe: British Airways to Lyon or Grenoble.
Where to stay: Belle Plagne for the charm and beauty. If you have a young family stay at Bellecote (the group ski lessons for children are between 2h45min and 3 hours which will leave you plenty of time to ski on your own)
What to do: Ski, ski, ski…in the morning go to Mauchavin la Plagne then go toward Champigny. Go back toward la Roche de Mio and get a lunch at La Roche de Mio or at La Bergerie. In the afternoon ski on Les Inversens. Go for a ride on the glacier and finish on Les Arpettes on your way to Belle Plage or Belle Cote.
Where to eat: L’Alpage, La Face Nord
