The missing link

We live in a society where individuality has overtaken collectivity, where too often companies and governments serve the interests of a few with the sole purpose of driving profits—selfishly and without broader regard.

Over the years we’ve drifted away from being an entrepreneurial society driven by innovation, long-term vision, and shared progress. Instead, we’ve ceded ground to short-term thinking, guided by the appetites of a handful of actors lured by rapid gains. We’ve neglected the simple truth that patient investment over the long run is essential to a thriving society, and that investing in people is fundamental to collective success.

Equally important, we’ve lost sight of the role enterprises play within our communities—their impact on social cohesion, integration, and the ties that bind us together. Our social fabric has frayed as businesses have stopped reflecting and reinforcing the values of the societies they inhabit.

Weekend a Deux is founded on the principle of restoring that social fabric, each in our own way and at our own scale. We aim to redefine—or revive—the role of enterprises in society, reminding us that businesses are not only economic engines but also stewards of community and social well-being.

Enterprises play a central, irreplaceable role in shaping the future of our societies. This is the missing link, our social fabric.
